What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, commonly referred to as “CBD,” is derived from hemp (Cannabis sativa L.), and was discovered in 1940. CBD does not have the same psychoactivity of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Instead, users report a calming effect, using CBD as a supplement for a wide variety of ailments. In recent studies, CBD has been shown to interact with the endocannabinoid system, the orexinergic system, and the serotonergic system in positive ways. Because these systems control a huge variety of functions, from your immune system to pain management to your mood and much more, it will take time for research to catch up with the wide range of uses people have found for CBD.
